As the summer winds down, there’s a lot of excitement surrounding the second half of 2012. The launch and integration of Google+ features in Google Apps for Businesses and lessons from Atmosphere on Tour highlight how web-based collaboration and social tools have dramatically changed the way people connect. Like Google Apps, we think Google+ can help colleagues collaborate more easily and get things done -- and get to know each other along the way.
Google+ for Business
This week, Google launched the first set of Google+ features designed specifically for the enterprise. What launched? The features launched begin to address the top requests from Google partners and customers, including more ways to control the content employees post and more ways to make Hangouts great for productive meetings from anywhere. You can preview the top requested business features and begin deploying Google+ in your organizations, as well as adopting them in your own, for free through the end of 2013. This launch is just the beginning. The team has more in store for the coming months to make G+ a key part of our cloud/mobile/social strategy. For more information, see Google announcement on the Enterprise Blog and the product page.
Continuing the transition from Postini to Google Apps
Since Google acquired Postini, They have been working toward integrating its security and compliance capabilities directly into Google Apps. In the past two years, Google developed and released numerous Postini features directly in Google Apps, such as user policy management; email content filters; archiving, retention and eDiscovery with Google Apps Vault. As Google look ahead to 2013, They will continue these feature integrations and gradually transition Postini GoogleMessage Security (GMS) and Google Message Discovery (GMD) customers to Google Apps. This will enable them to take advantage of the Postini features built directly into Google Apps that are more flexible, powerful and user-friendly. To learn more, see the announcement. More information can be found in the Google Apps Help Center where there are also more details regarding the Postini transition.
